Benazir Bhutto: Daughter of Power
I watched a documentary about Benazir Bhutto yesterday evening. It was called Benazir Bhutto:Daughter of Power. It was about a woman named Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated in December 2007. She was the first prime minister of the country of Pakistan. Pakistan elected her twice as their country’s prime minister. She was also the leader of the Pakistan People’s Party. Her father was also involved in politics. The Bhutto family had a tough life in politics. Benazir’s father was thrown in jail and eventually he was killed. Her mother was in jail but she was allowed to leave the jail to seek medical treatment for her cancer. Her husband was also in jail for eleven years. She returned to Pakistan shortly before her death. She had been promised by President Musharraf that all of the charges against her would be dropped. She was assassinated a few weeks before the general election when she was attending a Pakistan People’s Party rally. She was running in those elections and obviously people did not want her to win. She was a mom and sadly died at age fifty four. The documentary was very good.
