I watched Slacker Uprising. It is a film that was made by Michael Moore. It documented his sixty two city tour during the presidential election of 2004. If you will remember in that election John Kerry lost by about one hundred thousand votes, and lost because he did not win Ohio. The swift boat ads really did Kerry in. He should have fought back and maybe he would have won the presidency in 2004. Michael Moore visited many college campuses across the country. Many Republicans wanted this stop and even field lawsuits trying to ban Michael Moore from speaking at these events on college campuses. He was also joined by Roseanne Barr, Viggo Mortensen, REM, Steve Hill, Iraq Veterans and families, and many more people who were for Kerry. Kerry won the twenty five and younger age group during that presidential election.I thought that the movie showed how passionate Michael Moore is about helping the poor and middle class. His movie was free to the public, which is very rare. I thought that the movie was interesting even though we knew that Bush would end up being re-elected over John Kerry. Have you seen this documentary? If you did, did you like it?

I watched Keith Olbermann last night. He was reviewing the year. It still cracked me up to see Keith on David Letterman after John McCain had ditched him. This was a class move by David Letterman, how better to stick it to John McCain for ditching you than to invite Keith Olbermann to your show. Keith is critical of John McCain. I believe he had a segment every night called McCain in the membrane. John McCain does not like Keith Olbermann. I love Keith Olbermann’s comments. If you had watched Ben Affleck’s impression of him on Saturday Night Live you would understand. Keith is passionate and can be abrasive but he tells the truth no matter what people think about him. His year in review was great. I laughed at all of the late night comedy clips that were shown. The editing was good and it took me back to the days of Tina Fey as Sarah palin, which always were entertaining.

I finally was able to watch the documentary An Inconvenient Truth. I watched it on the Science Channel. I had never saw it before because I have been so busy that seeing movies unless they are on television usually falls by the wayside. The documentary is narrated by Al Gore. It also stars him. He was supposed to be our forty third president. Because of the Florida recount, he was not elected President of the United States of America. I honestly can say, I did not know a whole lot about Al Gore’s love of the environment until I watched this documentary. Global warming is a huge problem. We see Al Gore as he holds lectures on global warming in many different cities and countries. He talks about the cause so passionately. He learned about global warming in school and has trying to stop it since he got into politics. It really made me think more of the man. He seems like he really cares about what happens to the Earth. He wants future generations to have a nice clean planet to live on. We should all try to do our part to help by buying energy efficient appliances, conserving water, recycling, and buying alternative energy cars. We can all change the world, we just have to know where to start and be motivated.

As I already stated, my wife is making me watch chick flicks. We watched a new one on the Hallmark Channel last night. It was called A Kiss At Midnight and it stars Faith Ford. She was on the show Hope and Faith and Murphy Brown. The movie is about a matchmaker named Susan Flowers. She is going to turn forty and makes a wish that she will kiss the man of her dreams at Midnight on New Year’s Eve the next year. The man is named Joshua Sherman who has two young daughters named Cassie and Megan and he was widowed six years before. He owns an online matchmaking service that competes with Susan’s Hearts and Flowers service. Dyan Cannon plays her mom that is marrying a man that is totally wrong for her named Arthur. The girls decide to find a woman for their dad to date. Susan uploaded her profile to use the service to write an expose on the web site. They see Susan’s profile and then ask her to meet their dad Josh Sherman. Cassie loves to ride so she tells Susan to accidentally bump into her dad and go out to lunch. Josh does not know what is going on and neither does Susan until their second meeting when the girls divulge that their dad did not know that they posted his profile online. Susan really likes Josh and goes on more dates with him until she sees a brochure and sees that Josh is her competition. She thinks he only dated her to get rid of his competition. She then posts an expose on her blog. Josh sees this and writes her an email saying that he is very disappointed. Cassie is upset and goes riding in the middle of the night and has a head injury. Susan’s friend who is a nurse calls her about Cassie so she goes to the hospital. The girls divulge the truth and Josh and Susan eventually get married at midnight. It was an okay movie.

I watched a movie called Bella today. I had never heard about it before. My wife recorded it on the dvr and we watched it this afternoon. The movie is about two characters named Nina and Jose. Jose was a famous soccer player until he went to jail. He went to jail because he hit a little girl named Lucy with his car and he killed her. Nina worked at Jose’s brother’s restaurant. Jose’s brother is named Manny. Nina was fired because she was late two days in a week. She is young and a waitress and had just found out that she is pregnant. Jose befriends her and decides to go with Nina after she is fired. They spend the day together and even go to Jose’s parents home. There we learn that Manny is adopted. The two then go to the beach. This is a special time for them. Nina told Jose that she would have let Jose adopt her baby and at the end of the movie we see Nina getting out of the cab and meeting her daughter Bella for the first time at the beach. The little girl is wearing the scarf that she had given Jose years before. The three reunite in the end, the little girl is about four years old. It was a very good independent movie.

I watched a movie yesterday called Family Holiday. It was a movie starring Christina Pickles and Dave Coulier. Dave Coulier is famous for playing Joey Gladstone on the hit sitcom Full House. He played a con man who needs to show that he has a wife, kids, and a job to get his uncle’s ten million dollar inheritance. His character is named Doc Holiday. The children are seven year old fraternal twins named Tim and Amanda. They left their foster home after learning that they would be split up. Elizabeth thinks she is the nanny but she has to pretend to be Doc’s wife when Mrs. Penderghast comes to visit. The children are being chased by a man that they think is from child services. The children are taken by the man and Elizabeth leaves. Doc tells the truth to Mrs. Penderghast. She reveals that she is his dead uncle’s wife and that the man from child services works for her. Doc had ripped up the check. She said that since she is the governor’s cousin she can help him adopt the children. Doc goes to find Elizabeth at the Christmas lot and she and the children reunite and become a family. It was a decent holiday movie.

TV during the holidays is basically all repeats. There are a million Christmas movies on. One movie that I watched was Lost Holiday: The Jim and Suzanne Shemwell Story. It was about a couple who were on the brink of divorce and went snowmobiling in the mountains of Idaho. They ended up being lost in the cold and snow for six days. The family had almost given up hope and Suzanne’s mother had called off the search because there had been an avalanche and it was too dangerous for the searchers to continue looking for the couple. Suzanne had said that it would take a miracle to save her marriage and she got it in the form of being stranded on the mountain with her husband for almost a week. In this kind of situation you have to work together and communicate in order to survive. I think that this movie was a very realistic and heartfelt movie about a family and a couple who needed to stick together in order to survive.

I love the Food Network channel. I love watching the Food Network Challenges. This week I saw one of the challenges, it was called challenge Pixar cakes. This is where the chefs had to design a cake based on a Pixar movie such as Toy Story, A Bug’s life, Finding Nemo etc. The judges are brutal and make comments on camera about the progress of the chefs. The chefs each get a sous chef, and that is it. It is very hard to decorate a cake in my opinion. I mean the ones at the grocery store are fine, but these cakes are usually three dimensional. One of the competitors had his eye cake be destroyed. It was really a good looking cake but it came tumbling down so he had no chance of winning. One thing that I do not like is the fact that the chef and the sous chef get no help moving the cake. The cakes can get very heavy and wobbly and it seems very unfair that they do not get additional help to move the cake to the display table. The winner deserved to win, but they eye cake was really great until it collapsed.

Last night was the fall season finale of Prison Break. The company had locked Michael Scofield in a home sixty miles east of downtown. They sent a shrink to see him. The shrink told Michael that his mother Christina is alive. Apparently, she had been working for the Company for all of these years. Lincoln, Don Self, and Gretchen looked for Scylla. Alexander Mahone also caught up with the group to help out Lincoln. The General’s daughter Lisa, had Sara abducted and told her that the Company is going to carve out Michael’s personality, she also gave her an address. Sara called Lincoln with the news and he told her to sit tight. T-bag overheard the conversation and called the General and told him the news. Gretchen double crossed the group and found the identity of the Scylla buyer. She wanted ten million dollars from him and lured the men to a trap that was set. She ended up shooting the man and two of his associates but Gretchen got shot in the chest. TBag begged Lincoln not to shoot Gretchen again because she has an eight year old daughter named Emily. Michael put drain cleaner and chemicals in the hot water heater, he escaped and Sara found him. In the end, Michael and Lincoln’s mom called Lincoln but did not speak, she has Scylla.

Lately, I have seen that many soap operas are cutting cast members in order to save money. Most of the advertising dollars for soap operas are from the automobile industry. Since the automobile industry is going broke, they are not spending a lot of money on advertising. Soap operas just are not doing well in the ratings. They are on when people are at work and many people are not at home because many families have two parents that work full time jobs. Life is busy for many people so usually they watch only prime time television. Will the soap opera genre survive? I do not think so. I mean they are basically just recycling the same plot lines year after year. There are some die hard fans but networks need ratings to make money. If not, they should try showing soaps at night or on the weekends to attract more of a following since there are not many new shows on during the weekend, they are basically repeats or movies.
